the family stone

watching one of my favorite movies, the family stone, with yes, you guessed it my family. this movie is really sad, yet it is one of my favorites. and my family always seems to watch it every holiday season. one of my favorite lines just came on and i thought the world wide web should know of it:

"you have a freak flag, you just don't fly it."

“I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we’ll never know most of them. But even if we don’t have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things. And we can try to feel okay about them.”

-from the book The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

grabbin' life by the horns.

checking things off of my life list, one day at a time. this past weekend:
#23. Ride a mechanical bull: CHECK

TX.

OH TEXAS.. how i love you. a view weekends ago I went to that great state and have a much needed break from school and a much needed catch-up time with the people that live there. basically, i just had a wonderful time, clearly. We were always on the go, and I loved it. Here are a few things that I took from the trip.

1. Austin, TX is not like all of texas. it pretty much defies all stereotypes of texas.
2. There are no seat covers in any of the bathrooms in texas, gross.
3.I was in love with the resturant names, ie. pluckers, mighty fines, hula hut.
4. Danielle is the worlds BEST tour guide, she should work at disneyland ;)
5. creamed corn is better then it looks. a LOT better.
6. Downtown at night, is probably why they have shirts that say "keep austin weird"
7.Danielle should also be an interior designer. really though.
8. Everyone in texas looks good in burnt orange. (SO much UT pride).
9. the schools are beautiful, and in door, and I want to go to them.
10. Summit Church is stinkin' adorable and I am so exited about all the things that are going on there!
11. Saying ma'am and ya'll are so adorable, and i wish more people here in california said it.
12. When I told people I was from California, the usual response was, "I'm sorry".
13. I really wanted to see an armadillo in the wild, but sadly it never happened.
14. i love queso. and matt hires.
15. I CANT WAIT to go back :)

welp, I really did have the best time on this trip and so THANK YOU danielle.

la familia.

just wanted to take a quick second to recognize the people in my life whom which keep me going everyday. my head would literally fall off without chillin' pop, lynnifer, and tylur. (which is probs a bit sad, but oh well). love you all to pieces (which is also a bit of a weird phrase), and i just wanted to give you your own special place on my blog. and i just want you ALL to remember.. I'm still the funny one.

On The Radio.

This is how it works
You're young until you're not.
You love until you don't.
You try until you can't.
You laugh until you cry.
You cry until you laugh.

No, this is how it works
You peer inside yourself
You take the things you like
And try to love the things you took
And then you take that love you made
And stick it into someone else's heart.

red.

so I'm getting this feeling, a thought that I never really thought of. people have pointed it out, but I just never really listened. you live your whole life thinking your favorite color is yellow, and BAM everything you own is red. it's the weirdest thing. I never really thought myself to be a lover of the color red. I thought it was to severe and blood-like. but no, i love it. here are examples why:

all things that I can see from my bed right now that are red:
1. bed spread (its a quilt but mostly red)
2.picture frames
3.computer case
4.lamp
5.hair straightener
6.make-up bag
7.decorative flowers
8. phone
9. food journal
10. nalgene water bottle

see what I'm saying.. red galore. who knew? not me, that's for sure.
I still believe that my true favorite color is yellow, but data doesn't lie.
so, let's just say red is a close second.

ps. maybs I'll put a picture up later, so you can get the full effect of my red room.
p.p.s. I wonder what it means, me having so much red around.. i'll probably google it.
Just tea for two
And two for tea.
Just me for you
And you for me.

wishful thinking.

Tree House:

A tree house, a free house,
A secret you and me house,
A high up in the leafy branches
Cozy as can be house.

A street house, a neat house,
Be sure and wipe your feet house
Is not my kind of house at all--
Let's go live in a tree house.

september first.

so I can NOT believe it is already September, that just blows my mind. But in a way a like it, but in ways I don't. I like it because fall is my all time favorite season, and i just LOVE September-November. September means that everything will start changing yellow and orange and get all pretty which I love (but if we are being real, I'm in San Diego so the weather isn't changing at all, but I'm just going to pretend). plus, it is when pumpkin patches are open, and those are always so much fun. (shout out to apple hill, one of my favorite places) Also, I love September because that means it's almost October which means it's almost my BIRTHDAY. and who doesn't love birthdays? I sure do. But as I wrote September first on my homework today, it was just weird because I can't believe that it's already here. welp, here is to a great fall and a great next couple of months! (hopefully it doesn't go by TOO fast)

romans.

More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,
and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured
into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
—Romans 5:3-5

This is pretty much where I am at these days. Meditaingon this verse and the truth that it holds, in my life right now especially. Just putting faith in the fact that no matter "how deep a valley I might be in, there is always another hill top" (as megs would say) and there is some sort of purpose for all of this. This state is temporary and I am excited for the greatness that will come out of it.

Just some food for thought, and a more positive outlook on low points in life.

eighteen and crazy.

the city

i have done some super fun stuff this summer, and a few of those things involved the lovely city of San Francisco. from seeing wicked, to just walking around embarcadero st, to seeing a giants game at AT&T park, san fran never disappoints. It is so much fun and always has something new, although i could never live in a city, it is so much fun to visit. i recommend it.

my little rugrats.

so this summer i have spent a GOOD portion of my time with kids. I have been nannying for three families off and on and doing random babysitting jobs and did a week of VBS at my church. so needless to say, i am getting pretty popular with the 8 and under crowd. I absolutely ADORE working with kids, and i just love them. But this summer has taught me a lot about kids, and about myself. the past month though i have been spending my days with three great boys and here are a few things i have learned:

1. the contents of my purse have gone from just my wallet and chapstick, to hand sanitizer (LOTS OF IT), some form of toy, a snack of some sort and band aids. Let's just say, I am prepared for just about anything. call me mary poppins.
2. I have seen just about every kids movie that has been out this summer in theaters, some against my will.
3. i have gotten REALLY good at building things out of leggos, my best work was a model of buzz lightyear.
4. speaking of Buzz, i also have gone back to my roots of using my imagination for everything. I have to keep up with a four year old who pretends that cashews are the soldiers from toy story, so i have to be on top of my game. I often play the role of Buzz, because i cant be a sheriff, or so i've been told haha
5. i have perfected my cooking skills, and can now make the perfect bowl of mac n' cheese and/or oatmeal.
6. is going to the bowling ally three times in one week embarrassing? I bet not as embarrassing as loosing to three boys under the age of 10, one being only 4 years old...
7. the folsom zoo is not all its cracked up to be, although their deer and feline house cat exhibits were riveting.
8. because round table has temporary tattoos for .25 cents, doesn't mean we need to by $2 worth, but try telling that to the boys.
9. i have seen every episode of icarly. twice.
10. i now understand the point of mini vans, the sliding doors were GENIUS. everytime they open the door, i gringe becaue it flings so wide open that i get so nervous for the car next to us.

long story short, no matter how worn out i am at the end of the day, i have some of the best quotes from the things that these boys say, and laughing with them is the best. i love it! I am truely blessed by them.

although, some days i do feel like this.

true.

pandora radio

pandora radio is the greatest thing. if you have not heard of it or listened to it, you must.http://www.pandora.com/
but anyways my friend jamie showed me pandora and it is the greatest. you just put in an artist that you like and then a radio plays songs by that artists and by other artists that you might like if you listen to that person. i'm telling you, it's like pandora knows me. it would always plays ALL the songs I love, and the golden part of it is that it is FREE. so i dithed my itunes because I could now listen to songs that I didnt have in my library and it was awesome. so naturally I listened to pandora everyday when I got ready until one day.... in the middle of a song, it just goes silent. and to my suprise a box had popped up on the site that said pandora only gives 40 free hours a month and within two weeks I had reached my 40 hour limit. i was sooo sad. and now I am lost in the morning and have to listen to my outdated itunes.. I mean things could be worse but it was just a bit sad. but don't fret, tomorrow is the first of july and I will once again have pandora back.

so you should go sign up on their site and listen to all of your favorites. i'd recomend the tyrone wells station, lady antebellem station if you are feeling som summer country music, or the always wonderful john mayer station!

"be a best friend
tell the truth
and over use i love you
and go to work
do your best
don't out smart your common sense
never let your praying knees get lazy
and love like crazy
"

nothings sweeter than summer time.

snap shots of summer so far, with the ones i love.
