pandora radio

pandora radio is the greatest thing. if you have not heard of it or listened to it, you must.http://www.pandora.com/
but anyways my friend jamie showed me pandora and it is the greatest. you just put in an artist that you like and then a radio plays songs by that artists and by other artists that you might like if you listen to that person. i'm telling you, it's like pandora knows me. it would always plays ALL the songs I love, and the golden part of it is that it is FREE. so i dithed my itunes because I could now listen to songs that I didnt have in my library and it was awesome. so naturally I listened to pandora everyday when I got ready until one day.... in the middle of a song, it just goes silent. and to my suprise a box had popped up on the site that said pandora only gives 40 free hours a month and within two weeks I had reached my 40 hour limit. i was sooo sad. and now I am lost in the morning and have to listen to my outdated itunes.. I mean things could be worse but it was just a bit sad. but don't fret, tomorrow is the first of july and I will once again have pandora back.

so you should go sign up on their site and listen to all of your favorites. i'd recomend the tyrone wells station, lady antebellem station if you are feeling som summer country music, or the always wonderful john mayer station!

High Sea's Expedition

This past week was one of my favorite weeks of the summer. It was our VBS at my church, and it really is my favorite weeks because it is so much fun. I love working with kids and they really do say the darndest things. Some memorable quotes from the week were,
"I met this boy the other day and I can't stop thinking about him, he is even cuter then Justin Beiber"

"Tori, my God sighting for this week was the mound of dirt outside of the church"

"look at the salcommander (she meant salamander, i hope)"

"If you let me hop on your back, I won't run away again"

" I'm surrounded by crazy people, including me (said in a really creepy Gollum voice)"

These things made me laugh all week. Listening to what kids say is always something new. They have so much funny stuff to say and it was great being able to share a week with kids that I had never met. It was also fun just to watch all of the other kids that weren't in my group. Some of them were hillarious. Some of the things I realized this week were,

1. kids will get piggy-backs rides from you, whether you agree or not.
2. when ever there is music, kids will dance.
3. Any excuse to scream is good enough for them. and they will scream for long periods of time..in your ear.
4. One of the little boys in group was running away every time we changed stations so I told him that if he did it again he would have to hold my hand the rest of the night. So when he escaped into the treats station I held his hand the rest of this night. By the end he gave me a back massage haha.
5. this week reaffirms my love for working with kids, and gets me SO excited to be a teacher.

but this week has been also crazy because I have spent a grand total of 42 hours with kids. that's like one step under mom. it was an exhausting but fun week to say the least. but how can you not want to spend time with these little gems?

if you're a bird, i'm a bird.

so my friend just had surgery so a bunch of us went over to his house and we watched the notebook. because really, who doesn't love the notebook? I sure do, and watching it made me realize how much I really do like it, and it is just so adorable. And I just wanted to share one of my favorite parts from the movie,

"My Dearest Allie. I couldn't sleep last night because I know that it's over between us. I'm not bitter anymore, because I know that what we had was real. And if in some distant place in the future we see each other in our new lives, I'll smile at you with joy and remember how we spent the summer beneath the trees, learning from each other and growing in love. The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that's what you've given me. That's what I hope to give to you forever. I love you. I'll be seeing you. Noah"

oh Nicholas Sparks, you get me every time.

let me hold your crown, babe.

i love it when you call me big poppa

so this post that is LONG overdue, is about fathers day. and i don't know why i made that song lyric the title but i call my grandpa poppa so maybe i just thought of that word and then thought of that song? who knows. but back to the main point, fathers day. This years fathers day was a success, much like it always is, but this year was especially good. Mostly because my Poppa was in a good mood, and when he is in a good mood, everyone is in a good mood. Unless my grandma Goo is in a bad mood then it's all down hill from there. but it was Pops day, so everyone else just went along with it. We went to my families favorite place, lake Tahoe. if my family liked snow more, I'm sure we would just move there. love love LOVE it. and so we went there and watched the boat show. it was really cool and we got ot see a lot of sweet historic boats. Not to mention, mama bear with all of her connections hooked everyone up with VIP passes to the open bar, so that was a contributor to Pop's good mood. Here were some of the things that I learned about my dad, my grandpa and some other random stuff on fathers day.

1. when you are in, or driving in, a corvette there are certain unwritten rules. For example, if another corvette drives by, you wave to them. doesn't matter if you don't know the driver, you just wave. who knew? good thing Tyler did.
2. It is really windy in June in Tahoe, so wearing a flowy summer dress was probs not the best idea, learned that one fast.
3. After a few "wet woody's" from Garwoods, Pop decided that he was going to "reinvent himself". Goo was not convinced.
4. My grandpa also decided to build a house in Tahoe, yahoo!
5. even if you are not in a swimsuite, you can STILL get burnt being outside all day.

so all in all, it was a fun weekend with the family and it is always fun when we go to Tahoe.
here are a few pictures of the day..
