I found out today that the library is actually a good place to get things done. I have only visited the beloved Ryan library three times. today being my third. I know this is absurd because most college students live in their schools library's at one time or another, but not me. see school doesn't stress me out, and I am incapable of working on anything academic past 11, so the library really didn't serve me much purpose. I just work on all of my homework in my room, or in other peoples rooms, and it has seem to work thus far. however my writing teacher( good ol' bowlesy) insisted that we go to the library to print off a page for our research paper. I'm telling you, the people in the library could smell my fear. they knew that I was noob( this might have a slient k at the front, but who knows? i dont).Anyways, it's a bit intimidating walking in and not knowing where to go. but I spotted the reference desk right away and so I figured its the librarians job to help me, so I asked where the encyclopedias were, and the nice little gem behind the desk was so helpful. But i loveeee to read and so when I got to the encyclopedias I got so distracted because I started reading books that had nothing to do with my topic. Let's just say I know less about my research topic, but I could become a dream interpreter if I wanted to. So once i figured out that I had spent an hour sitting, and reading about dreams, I quickly moved upstairs. Here are a few things that I have just learned about the library.
1. people do in fact go there just to sleep. It's true. There were like 8 kids sleeping in this one little area. and its not like they even fell asleep while reading, they legit moved the chairs into a square to make a little cradle thing. It was the oddest thing ever.
2. there were more people on facebook then people actually doing homework.
3. the library is not as quite as i thought it would be.
4. I don't know how to whisper.
all of these things was new knowledge to me, and things I could only experience by going to the library. Oddly enough, I got a lot of my work done and it was a very productive few hours. I cant decide if I liked it though. Like liked it enough to go back, voluntarily, just to study. who knows, maybe the Ryan library and I will become great friends?
